April 2013

Charlotte
loves bossy commands: "stop talking", "sit down", "i show you something, come in toy room" "I draw you" "I want something good a me" "pipe down!"

I put unders on her the other day and she patted them and said "My penis keepin warm!"

C is on a pistachio kick. Salt and Pepper pistachios are so yummy! She even cracks the shells herself. Every day she asks "Stashubes mama?"

"I love you so much" and "I miss you so much" (melts my heart!)

"Dada loves you mama!"

She's been helping me in the kitchen "I wanna cook you!"

Had the stomach flu recently. The first time she threw up was at 2am.  We heard her crying and Willie went to check on her. "I'm so sorry dada I make a big mess", "I barf everywhere!" "I not feelin" (later she learned to add "good")

Audrey fit up (spit up). Clean it up mama!

I hangin up a mama (hanging out with mama)

Audrey is so so close to crawling. She's an army crawl pro. She loves shrieking and squealing to get our attention. I call her "shrieky" and "tweety". Loves eating. Has had avacado, sweet potato, banana, and prunes. Loves it all!

Forest Park. Don't mind the wolverine beard!

At Forest Park. Charlotte was scared of alligators!

Annual "White Trash" picture. classic.

C is also on a frozen blueberry kick. I bought a 4lb bag from costco a couple of weeks ago and its almost gone. Yesterday in the Google search bar I noticed Willie's search: "can you overdose on blueberries?". seriously?! (actually, you can!) They do make her cold. She comes to me, mouth and fingers blue, and crouched over with arms hugging herself. "I'm freezin! boo berries makin cold a me! snuggle me!"

AFTER scrubbing her blueberry fingers!

kitchen paint project

On Saturday, Willie and I conquered a weekend project: painting the kitchen. The kitchen had several areas that needed touchups, but we decided we wanted to change the color instead. Painting always seems like such a monumental task, but I love how it transforms the space.
We had some leftover "Beachglass" by Benjamin Moore paint from our first house so we put it to use here. It is a nice shade of light blue. One of our standbys.

Neither of us were a fan of this blah color. I think it was "French Canvas" by Benjamin Moore.

I made the curtains out of a vintage tablecloth. They were lowered to become "cafe curtains" later

Much more cheery, I think!

Matilda Jane clothes. These are SOO expensive. Even on Ebay! We have the cutest apron dress on loan from my SIL and have to give it back :(

girl's dressers makeover

New floating shelves in living room. Made by my Dad and painted and hung by Willie. LOVE them! Please note the giant chocolate bunny. I rescued him from Goodwill and I'm obsessed! I will be sad to put him away with the Easter things.

New living room rug - West Elm Alyson Fox Stencil Rug. I am loving all her rugs.
The real "before" pictures would have been before Willie sanded, primed, and painted them :)

I wanted some cool Anthropologie pulls, but I don't think they would have worked. (Plus it would have cost $180+!) The original pulls are pretty cool, but I wanted them a bit "shabbier", so I thought I would try distressing them with some paint.

Acrylic paint in "Sea Foam" from Hobby Lobby. I just painted it on, and them buffed it off after a minute or two.

Distressed with a kitchen sponge. I'm sure there's a much more professional way to do it, but it's good enough for me!

I mod-podged wrapping paper onto the sides of the drawers :)
